Aquarium Career Exploration
High School Career Day
Are you a high school student interested in working with aquatic life? Do you know you want to work with water in some way, shape, or form? Or maybe you already have a specific aquarium career planned out, and want to make sure it’s the right path for you? We hope to answer these (and many more) questions for you at our Career Day.
Meet team members who perform a variety of jobs to keep the Aquarium running, find out what they wanted to do at your age, and how their career journey brought them here. You can even try a few of their job responsibilities yourself, such as testing water, preparing enrichment items for our animals, and feeding stingrays. Join us for this day-long encounter of aquatic careers and a behind-the-scenes glimpse of all that it takes to operate the Greater Cleveland Aquarium.
Middle School - Rising Aquatic Scientists
Are you a middle school student who can’t pass up a pond without checking out what’s in it? If so, the Greater Cleveland Aquarium has a day to explore careers in marine biology. You will encounter Aquarium team members ranging from Guest Experience Associates, to Aquarists, to SCUBA Divers and others. Participate in hands-on activities and peek behind-the-scenes to further discover what may be exciting to you. Curious what high school subjects may set you on a path toward an Aquarium job? Come with an open mind for this daylong adventure and leave with an abundance of information, and hopefully, career inspiration.
Middle School - Junior Aqua Squad
Looking for a memorable way to get experience and contribute to your community? Why not share your enthusiasm for the natural world with others? Our middle school volunteer program involves educational and outreach opportunities focused on fostering an appreciation of aquatic life and a commitment to conservation. Please contact us at email@example.com for more information.
If your school offers the opportunity for a multi-day shadow project in your senior year, the Aquarium has a program that gives students a unique experience assisting with daily operations. Since there are very few openings for this experience, participants are chosen selectively.* Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
*Shadow application process for May 2019 is now closed.
The Aquarium offers internships throughout the school year for college students studying marine science, education, marketing, or related fields. Please see our Careers & Internships page for a list of available positions and information on how to apply.
