The Greater Cleveland Aquarium will officially reopen for general admission on Monday, July 6 from 10am – 4pm. Admission will be timed entry and reservations will be available to book online beginning Thursday, June 25.

To ensure a responsible reopening, the Aquarium will be implementing new physical distancing protocols including (but not limited to) reduced capacity, pre-purchase timed ticketing, additional sanitation measures and one-way paths. Areas where social distancing can’t be achieved will be temporarily closed including some interactives, play areas and animal encounters. All team members will have daily temperature checks and will wear protective facial coverings.

The Aquarium is working to offer weekly time blocks solely for senior citizens and those who are immune-compromised and, if there is demand, daily hours could be extended to accommodate more guests per day.    

The first “wave” of the Aquarium’s reopening will be welcoming its members back the week of June 29 – July 5, 12pm – 4pm. Entry for this Passholder-only week also will require advance, timed reservations.

How can I support the Aquarium? 

The Aquarium will need to continue to operate at reduced capacity for the near future. Guests who would like to support the organization can do so by purchasing an annual pass, donating to the Aquarium’s nonprofit Splash Fund or by buying fish food from Piscine Energetics who will match the purchase to a product credit to help Greater Cleveland Aquarium feed its aquatic residents.

Why is it difficult to reach you?  

To conserve resources, only the animal care team has been working. We are in the process of inviting members of our team to return and will get back to you when they are back at work. 

What about my expiring general admission tickets?

If your ticket expires during this closure period (beginning March 15, 2020), we will honor it when we reopen, extending its end date for the same length of time we are closed. Remember, if you purchased a ticket online, it is good for 2 years from the date of purchase. If you won or received a complimentary ticket, it expires 1 year from the date printed on the front. 
 
Will my Annual Pass be extended? 

Annual Passes most definitely will be extended the length of the closure. And if you were up for renewal during the closure, we’ll offer you the monthly renewal discount when we reopen. 
 
What about an event I planned to host or attend (ZZZs in the Seas, Adult Swim, Fieldtrip, Tour, Shark Dive CLE, Birthday, etc.)? 

Currently we are focused on the health of the animals. There is no administrative staff working at this time.

The Aquarium has a no refund policy, however once our reopening has been determined and members of our administrative team are back to work we will prioritize extending, rescheduling and/or trading opportunities.    

We recognize this is a stressful time for everyone. We truly appreciate your patience and support.
